The Snow Dragons was CAN Young Artists@HOME's second production.
2017’s The Snow Dragons followed on from the success of their first production What’s Done Is Done which took its inspiration from William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. What’s Done Is Done was performed at the World Stages Festival in association with the Young Vic, London, and The Rep, Birmingham in 2015.
Empowered by the success of their very first production, from November 2016 onwards CAN Young Artists@HOME took part in weekly theatre-making workshops to create The Snow Dragons, an original play by the acclaimed writer Lizzie Nunnery, commissioned for the National Theatre Connections festival.
A coming of age story, where a group of young people, feeling let down by the adult world, form the last line of resistance against a society out to destroy their world.
The Snow Dragons premiered on HOME’s main stage to a packed audience on 29 April 2017.
After the performance, Lizzie Nunnery congratulated the ensemble on their exceptional performance.
“It was a brilliant performance and you were able to find moments of comedy that I did not know were there.”
