CAN Young Artists at work Autumn and Winter 2021

Our CAN Young Artists group, aged between 13 and 18, are meeting face-to-face on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

This follows a year of socially distanced activities which included contributing to GMCA Creative Packs, distributed to children and young people during lockdown, and Our City of Languages – Manchester City of Literature’s celebration for the UNESCO International Mother Language Day on 21 February – with their beautiful film Would You Take My Hand?

In Autumn/Winter 2021, CAN Young Artists are busy developing drama and writing skills with theatre artist Emmanuel Bajiiji and creating visual art with Mandy Beck McKim.  They’re working with film-maker Clive Hunte of Busha Productions to create a film, inspired by the concept of ‘escape’ due to be completed in December, using their visual art, drama, and writing.

We’re really looking forward to seeing the completed film.
