Platforma Arts + Refugees Network is a UK-wide project for the development of refugee related arts and is delivered as a partnership between Counterpoints Arts and Oval House Theatre. The project stems from the recommendations made in the 2008 Hybrid report, The Arts and Refugees – History, Impact and the Future, commissioned by the Baring Foundation; Arts Council England, London and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
The project also seeks to support the development of regional networks, which are involved in managing relevant sections of the website and contributing to the development of the national events. CAN coordinates the Platforma North West Hub. As part of this, we organised the Platforma Festival 2013 which was held at the Martin Harris Centre.
Since 2016 we have been working with Counterpoints Arts to deliver an annual Learning Lab and film screening which enables Platforma members to explore key themes and issues of practise relating to migration and the arts.
