Lee is a freelance visual artist, filmmaker and digital arts facilitator based in Manchester. His work mainly deals with issues affecting marginalised or vulnerable people including representation, equality, empowerment, engagement and the value of diversity.

As an artist I’m interested in issues affecting marginalised or vulnerable people including representation, empowerment, engagement and the value of diversity.

I started my career in IT over twenty years ago and quickly moved through the ranks into first line management and strategic management. I found my work rewarding and challenging but lacking in any real creative opportunities. So I left my job and went back to university to study filmmaking, which has always been a passion of mine.

Since graduating in 2008, I’ve been running filmmaking courses for community groups as a freelance artist. I encourage groups to identify and consider issues central to their interests, we then actively explore these issues while learning the technical aspects of filmmaking.

Together we collaborate to produce a high quality short film that can be used by the group to share learning and promote their cause. This process nurtures skills including technical proficiency, teamwork and critical thinking while building confidence and self-esteem.

Previous groups have included refugees, migrant communities, youth groups, women’s groups, men’s groups and artist collaborations.
