Artforms: I can sing and teach improvisational vocal technique for people with lots to no experience. I’ve dramaturged plays as well, and frequently incorporate visual/film aspects in work.

Sectors: LGBT [lesbian myself]; emerging artists; young people, esp. 16-30; older people and have done some prison workshops with youth and adults.

I’m a theatre director who especially likes immersive, site-specific work. I’e also done small-scale to large-scale theatre projects in studios and mainstages. I started out as a performance poet, have written many radio plays and trained at BBC as radio drama producer.

I’ve done all sorts of work, but started as a professional with a community and theatre-in-education company, Pit Prop. It’s been a consistent joy to work in the sector.

Writer-in-Residence at Pit Prop Theatre, Oldham Coliseum Theatre, Contact Theatre [pre-2009], Birmingham Readers’ and Writers’ Festival, Bolton Institute, 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games.
Community Partnerships Coordinator, Royal Exchange Theatre, plus freelancing and Children’s Director for MEN Theatre-Award-winning A RAISIN IN THE SUN.
Associate Director, New Writing/New Work, Contact Theatre [2005-2008]
Director-in-Residence, Traverse Theatre [2008-2009]
Artistic Director, Running to Paradise [directed productions at Citz Theatre, Glasgow, Manchester International Festival, Royal Exchange Theatre Studio].
