The Platforma Festival is an inspirational national showcase of arts & culture featuring work that explores, or is linked to the refugee experience.

Community Arts North West is hosting Platforma Festival 2013 which takes place at the Martin Harris Centre between 31 Oct & 1 Nov 2013.

The festival includes a major two-day conference, two nights of live performances (an Acoustic Night and a Live Music Night) and a festival fringe.

Fringe events are primarily organised, programmed and funded independently – the aim is to open up the Platforma Festival to as many people as possible. If you’d like to run a Fringe event, there’s still time – contact tom@counterpointsarts.org.uk. The Platforma Festival Fringe programme will be announced in September.

The umbrella of events brings together artists, academics and arts practitioners from across the UK and the world.  We feel that Manchester is the ideal location for such an important cultural event due to its unique culture, its history as an international city of trade, of working class struggle and its fiercely independent spirit.

The Platforma arts & refugees network is managed by Counterpoints Arts with funding from the Baring Foundation and Arts Council England. The Martin Harris Centre at the University of Manchester is  supporting the Platforma Festival as part of its 10th Anniversary.
