Platforma Festival 2013 – Dates & venue announced!

The 2nd national Platforma Festival will take place at The Martin Harris Centre* in Manchester on Thursday 31 October & Friday 1 November 2013, bringing together artists, academics and arts practitioners from across the UK & the world.

Community Arts North West is delighted that Manchester has been selected to host the next Platforma Festival and feel that this city is the ideal location for such an important cultural event.

The Platforma Festival gives us the opportunity to highlight Manchester’s unique culture, its history as an international city of trade, of working class struggle and its fiercely independent spirit. We are also keen to highlight Manchester’s proud history of global links and providing sanctuary to generations of people fleeing persecution and oppression.

The 2-day festival at the Martin Harris Centre is being led and programmed independently by Counterpoint Arts to ensure that the festival is fully representative of national practice. However, there are plenty of opportunities for local venues & organisations to get involved in the Platforma Festival Fringe by programming activities that link in with the Platforma Festival.

If you have an idea or project that is linked to the refugee experience, or if you have space that you can offer for activity to happen in, please get in touch with Jennie Vickers on or call 0161 234 2987.

*The Martin Harris Centre is supporting the Platforma Festival as part of the 10th Anniversary of the Martin Harris Centre, The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, The University of Manchester.
